Anticipate His Presence | Part 2: The Postures of Stillness
Clear the clutter & wash the clothes, then.....
In clearing your mind you are able to recognize the things your mind is drawn to. Learn to identity what is competing for the voice of God.
1.When we face adversity we will try to isolate ourselves
2.Or busy ourselves with other things. Distractions
Learn to deal with competing voices, so we can become more in tune with God.
You have to be close to hear the whisper in the still small voice
The wind represents the spirit of God, but in this case the strong wind, the earthquake, and the fire Elijah was sure God was in them, but He came in the whisper or still small voice and recognized it and came out of the cave.
Posture of stillness:
The whisper is not about following orders but the intimacy God wants to have with his people that comes from being close.
Still- is not an absence of action.
It opens the door to relationship with God. We need to learn the discipline of stillness to have relationship with God. Taking the time to separate ourselves from the world & things allows us to focus & develop that relationship
& align ourselves with God's will & Word then open up the door of possibilities.
Don't settle for substitutes. Examples: hobbies, business, media binging, Facebook browsing.....
How stillness unlocks the power of God:
Dig In : Ex 14:13 - fear not, stand still & see the salvation
Stillness will make you see something. God wants to reveal things to us! Ephesians 6:14 - Stand therefore. Stand in Hebrew is not just being quiet but a military term to stand firm, take & hold a position.
In stillness we can stand firm in the promises of God. It will open up the door for the miracle to come through. Take a position of readiness. Fix yourself & stop looking for alternatives. Your salvation comes from the Lord.
Get quiet: Num 9:8 - Moses said stand still & I will hear. Stillness here is to stop moving & remain in place; a pause in action. Don't go any farther & until you hear what God has to say. There will be direction & encouragement.
Surrendering: Psalm 46:10 - be still & know that I am God. Still here means to sink or relax; to drop your hands or to let go.
Letting go completely & surrendering by falling into the hands of God. Turn it loose!!!
I'll take my stand, I will hear, I will see and let go by being still before Him.
