What We Believe

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Union Hill Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Inspired Word of God

The Scripture is the inerrant and inspired Word of God. Both the Old and New Testaments, in their original autographs, are the inspired, infallible Word of God. Within them, we find the complete and final written revelation of God. We reject all doctrines found outside of the Scripture or spiritual phenomena based solely on experience. We look to the Word of God as the final authority on all matters pertaining to Life and Living. .

Ps. 119; Mat. 4:4; Lk. 24:27; 2 Tim. 3:16

God

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Micah 3:6; Heb. 13:8

Jesus Christ, The Son of the Living God

God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God. Who was born sinless of a Virgin, performed miracles, died on the Cross and raised from the dead three days later. He has ascended to the Right-Hand of the Father and will return in Power and Glory to rule for a thousand years.

Isa. 7:14; John 1:1, 14

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Triune Godhead. Through His Power the world was created, the Miracles of Christ were performed, and New Life is given to the Believer. When one accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior they receive the Divine Nature. When a Believer becomes Spirit-Filled they are further immersed into His Being.

Gen. 1:2, Matt. 3:11, Matt 10:1, 2 Cor. 5:17, 2 Pet. 1:4

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time. Mankind, without repentance, is doomed to eternal damnation.

Genesis 3; Rom. 3:23; 6:23; Rev. 20:13-15

Salvation

Jesus Christ, is the greatest gift that God has given to the world. Through His atoning work at the Cross, He has purchased Salvation for all of mankind. Salvation is not earned. Rather it is received by the expression of ones faith in Christ and Him Crucified. When one expresses faith in Christ's atoning work, they instantly become a child of the Living God.

Rom.5:1; 1 Cor. 15:3-7; Eph.2:8-9,13-18

Water Baptisim

Christ is our example. Since He was baptized so to should we. Therefore, we believe that after one through faith repents they should be baptized. Baptism entails the full immersion of the body into water and being raised.

Matt. 3:15, Acts 2:38

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is God's greatest gift to the Church. Not only is it a gift, but it is also a command given by Jesus Christ that His Disciples be Spirit-Filled. The purpose of this second work of Grace is to empower the Believer to carry out the Great Commission.

Mk. 16:15-18; Acts 1:4; Acts 2:16-18

Sanctification

Sanctification, it is the act of being separated unto God and from this world of sin. It is both instantaneous and progressive. When one expresses Faith in Christ and His Finished Work, they are immediately separated unto God and given a position within the body of Christ. As that Believer continues to walk by faith the Holy Spirit will progressively transform the believers heart and life into the image of Christ.

1 Cor. 6:11, Rom. 8:1-3, 12:1-2

Healing

Healing is a direct result of Christ's Victorious Atoning Work at Calvary.  It is obtained by one's faith placed squarely in Christ's Finished Work. This encompasses not only the physical body, but includes the spirit and mind of an individual that comes to Christ. Therefore, we look to pray for and lay hands on those in need of the Lord to heal them. It is God's wisdom though when healing is finally delivered whether on this side of Glory or when we come into His Presence. Either way, by His Stripes we are healed!
Isaiah 53:5, James 5:14

Spiritual GIfts

We believe as our only doctrine the full gospel and worshipping in the freedom of the Spirit, God bestowing the various gifts by the self-same Spirit dividing to every man severally as he will.

1 Cor. 12

The Church

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, and consists of the people who, have accepted God’s offer of redemption (regardless of religious denomination) through the sacrificial death of His son, Jesus Christ.  We believe it is the mission of the Church is to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to all who are lost in sin.

1 Cor 12:27 & 13:3, Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 2:22; Hebrews 12:23

Resurrection & Second COMing

Jesus Christ died on Calvary only to be resurrected three days later in the fullness of His power and glory. He revealed himself to his disciples - and others - before ascending unto the Father, where he will remain until He retrieves His bride (rapture). We believe in a Pre-Tribulational Rapture where we shall be with the Lord for 7-years in Heaven during the Tribulation. Upon His return (second coming), the Righteous shall return with HIm and He will reign for 1,000 years on this earth in righteousness. At the end of His Millennial Reign the dead will be raised from hell, judged, and cast into the Lake of Fire. A New Heaven and New Earth will then be created where the righteous will dwell with God forever.

John 5:28-29, 11:25; 1 Cor. 15:50-54: 1 Thess. 4:13-18; 2 Thess. 2:1-8, Rev. 19-22

Gender/Marriage/Sexuality

Mankind was created in the image of God. The Man Adam, was first created and then the Woman Eve. God created these two distinct genders within humanity for His glory. They were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creation. God's command to mankind was to be fruitful and multiply. Therefore, He ordained Marriage to be between one Man and one Woman in Holy Matrimony that children may be produced from that union.

Gen. 1:26-27; Matt. 19:4-6
