John 15:4 KJV
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
In this chapter, Jesus tells us that he expects us to bring forth fruit. What is fruit? Fruit is evidence of our relationship with Christ. It should be sweet, nourishing, beautiful, and beneficial to others.
Throughout this chapter, Jesus ups the expectation. When you first attach to the vine (first get saved), he only expects you to produce fruit (verse 2). The quantity is not specified. As you grow, however, Jesus expects you to produce more fruit (verse 2) and then much fruit (verse 5).
We need to show more and more people about Jesus, and the best way to do that is to produce fruit by abiding in Him.
