Your Walk Follows Your Eyes

Genesis 13:7-8 KJV
[7] And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land. [8] And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.

Genesis 13:11 KJV
[11] Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.

God blessed Abraham and Lot abundantly. God’s blessings can come in many forms, but financially, he blessed Abraham and Lot by increasing their herds.

That blessing in turn created a fracture in their relationship, and Abraham had to let Lot go.

Often, we want to hold onto our lost loved ones with a death grip. We want to force them to serve the Lord, but we can’t. Salvation is a personal decision.

When a loved one is headed down a wrong path, the most loving thing to do is let them go.

In 1 Corinthians 5:5, Paul tells us exactly that:

“To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.”

When our loved ones are walking in the wrong direction, we have to let them go while keeping them in prayer, believing, that just like Lot, the angel will rescue them from sudden destruction:

Genesis 19:15 KJV
[15] And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
