The Blessing of Grace

James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

Everything from the breath in our lungs to the home where we live are gifts from God. He provides every good thing we have.

As sinners, we often misattribute our belongings to ourselves - and even we Christians can fall into this trip. We think it was our hard work that got us that pay raises or it was our determination that landed us that new job.

We’re so easy to forget that those qualities, they came from God too. He provided your work ethic: he provided your tenacity, determination, skills, abilities, intellect. It ALL came from Him!

When you boil it all down, God’s grace is so far above what we can even imagine. He gives us more than we deserve EVERY day.

Grace is receiving unmerited favor. We don’t deserve God’s gifts, but He gives them anyway, and the greatest gift He ever gave was Jesus.

Jesus died for you and me and everyone on this Earth, if we will only believe, and when we do, we receive even more we don’t deserve: hope, peace, joy, and love.

On Easter, and every day, we need to thank God for his grace!
