Don’t Look Back

Genesis 19:26 KJV
But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
God sent angels to rescue Lot and his family from the impending doom of Sodom. After trying to convince other members of his family to depart with him, only Lot, his wife, and his two daughters escaped.
The angels warned the family not to turn their eyes back toward Sodom, but Lot’s wife didn’t heed the warning. She looked back, and became a pillar of salt.
Our eyes are the gateway to our heart. When Eve looked upon the fruit and saw it was pleasant to the eyes (Gen. 3:6), she sinned. In the book of Judges, time and time again, the Israelites did what was right in their own eyes (17:6), and fell away from God.
We have to keep our eyes firmly fixed on Jesus or this world will suck us right back in with what is pleasing to the eyes. Put on your blinders and journey on thou good and faithful servant!
