Luke 15:8-9 KJV
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it ? And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
Our heart longs for four things: success, joy, love, and Jesus. Sadly, most people focus on the first three at the expense of the last. While success, joy, and love are wonderful aspects of life, we will always feel incomplete without Jesus.
When we search for success, we often find failure. Scripture tell us, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” (Proverbs 18:21). Therefore, our success or failure often boils down to our tongue, but if you don’t have Jesus, you wouldn’t know it.
When we search for joy, we find that happiness is fleeting. Only when we have Jesus do we know gratitude and contentment - not happiness - are the answer for joy.
When we search for love, we are wanting acceptance and fellowship. Regrettably, the people we love can fail us. Our spouse may not accept our new idea/dream/hobby. Our friends may be too busy to provide us with fellowship. But Jesus accepts us into His family and provides continual fellowship for those who seek Him!
If Jesus isn’t at the center of your heart, your life will forever feel incomplete. If your heart feels incomplete, seek Him to find the missing piece of your life.
