Genesis 32:22 KJVAnd he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.
God uses the crossing of rivers to symbolize aspects of our walk with Him. The crossing of the Red Sea symbolized salvation. The crossing of the Jordan River symbolized the baptism of the Holy Spirit, meaning accepting the fullness of what God has for us. The crossing of Jabbok symbolized surrender to God’s will.
In the military, surrender is defeat; but to God, surrender is victory! When we surrender the hinderances keeping us from Him, He is able to more freely move in our lives. By holding onto our worries, fears, family, finances, friends, health, etc. we prevent His full power from shining in those areas.
What the devil meant for evil, God can make it good. His plans are still to prosper, he has not forgotten us. God is sovereign over us!
