When You’re Drowning

There are times in life when we feel like we’re drowning. My grandma likes to say, “when it rains, it pours.” That pouring rain often leads to flooding, and the Bible says, “when the enemy comes in like a flood...”

Sometimes we’re drowning in the cares of this life: work, school, kids, laundry, food, activities, birthday parties... the list is never ending.

But we have to be careful, Jesus warned us in the parable or the sower that they cares of this life (weeds) can choke out the grain (us) and kill us in a spiritual sense (verse).

When we feel like we’re drowning, we have to get our priorities straight. Jesus HAS to be #1 in our lives. If he isn’t, that sense of drowning will only intensify.

When Jesus is #1 in our lives scripture says we will be like a city on a hill (Matt 5:14), and I don’t know about you, but I haven’t seen many flooded hills.

Jesus will pick you up and put your feet on HIGHER ground, but only if you make him the priority and focus of your life.
