The Obedience Equation

Obedience is a topic that spans the testaments of the Bible. In the Old Testament, God tells us that obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Sam 15:22). In the New Testament, Peter says, “We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29).

If you’ve ever had a small child, you know obedience can be a hard thing. The sin nature makes us hard-wired to resist obedience whether we’re 2 or 92.

We must seek the Lord daily to overcome the natural resistance within us. The Holy Spirit can then empower us to become more and more obedient to His will.

God never leaves us empty-handed in the process either - with obedience comes his blessings and provision.

Here’s the simple formula: obedience to God = God’s favor.
