Debt is Dumb, Cash is King

As a huge fan of personal finance, some of my favorite verses come from the book of Proverbs: the wisdom book. Nowhere in this book are we told that it is a sin to borrow money, but we are told it’s dumb. The Biblical wording might say “folly or foolish,” but regardless of the word choice, it means dumb.

Proverbs 22:7 ESV
The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be a slave. I want to be free! Proverbs chapter 6 tells us if we have muddled our way into debt, we are to:

Proverbs 6:5 ESV
save yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the hand of the fowler.

With all intensity, we have to break free from the financial chains that have bound us! Jesus Christ wants to give you life more abundant (John 10:10) - even in your finances!
