He’s Waiting for You

Luke 15:17-19 KJV
And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

In American culture, we read the story of the prodigal son from the perspective of the son. We even call it “the prodigal son.”

Middle Eastern culture views the same parable from a different perspective: the Father’s. They refer to the story in perspective to the waiting Father.

I along with so many others are guilty of being self-absorbed. We’re so worried about ourselves, our lives, and our problems that we lose sight of Christ: Much like the prodigal son.

When we go astray, he seeks to bring us home (Luke 15:4). When we roll away, he diligently looks for us (Luke 15:8). But when we rebelliously leave Him, He waits patiently for our return (Luke 15:20).

We have to make the decision to come back home when we chose to leave - just like the prodigal son did. But when we do, the Father will welcome us home with open arms (Luke 15:20).
