Hold onto the Promise
Genesis 50:20 KJV
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
If you’ve served the Lord long enough, He’ll give you a promise. Sometimes it comes freely from God. Other times, after seeking God in prayer, he answers with a promise. Whatever the origin, God’s promise can see you through even the darkest pits of despair.
Rather than expound in hypotheticals, I’m going to give you a real life example of each:
First, when I was pregnant with Lynlee I was terrified of having a miscarriage. The devil used medical professionals to fill me with fear. I was told my chance of miscarriage was high due to the shape of my uterus. I worried for weeks and finally the Lord gave me a promise: “not a hair on her head shall be harmed.” I was able to hold onto this promise throughout my pregnancy and know that I would have a beautiful baby as my reward at the end no matter what the enemy tried to convince me of otherwise.
Second, when my mom was about to pass God gave me part of the verse Psalm 30:5:
weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning
This promise served two purposes. First, it told me that my mom was going to be saved (and she was a few weeks before she passed!). Second, that my beautiful Maci Joy would come after her passing to help me through my grief. That verse carried me through the weeks of hospice and the month that followed as I grieved my mom’s passing.
God gives us promises to carry us through.
