Don’t Walk Out

Exodus 12:22 KJV
And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.

The blood referenced in the verse above came from an innocent lamb (representing Christ). They placed the lamb’s blood about their door to show their faith in the Lord. If the blood was present, the Lord promised to have the death angel pass over the house during the 10th Egyptian plague. Any house without the blood (which showed a lack of faith in God) led to the death of the firstborn in each household.

The faith of the Israelite parents wasn’t enough to save the children, however. The verse said that none shall go out of the house until morning. That means the protection only lasted if you remained in the house. The children had to trust the Lord and remain in doors as much as the parents had to trust the Lord in performing the sacrifice and applying the blood.

This passage of scripture teaches us 2 things:

1) Our faith cannot save our children, but it can provide them protection while they are under our roof. Our salvation allows us to seek the King of Kings not only for our needs - but our children’s needs as well. When He provides for us, He also provides for them:

Psalm 37:25 KJV
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

2) Our salvation is only valid if we remain under the blood. The children had to remain in their homes until morning. They had to remain under the blood to stay safe, and we have to do the same thing with our salvation. We have to remain under the blood to stay saved. If one chooses to walk out from under the blood, they are making the choice to leave their salvation. And by leaving their salvation, they leave His protection and His provision. The choice of salvation or damnation lies with us - just as it did with the Israelites on the night of the Passover. If we want safety and salvation, we must choose to stay covered by the blood:

Psalm 37:39-40 KJV
But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord : he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
