Our Measure of Faith
While listening to “Isaiah Song” during a run, the line “you who are empty I AM the well” rang in my ears.
Our Pastors study of faith began running through my spirit, and then I thought that we are given a measure of faith.
Romans 12:3 - For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith
Then my mind went to the ministries of Elijah and Elisha. Both dealt with individuals with a limited oil supply (Let’s say this is a measure of Faith given to them) in hard times.
They were only asked what they had (limited), yet when they placed that measure of faith (that of a mustard seed) into the Word of God, they tapped into an unlimited supply that sustained and delivered them.
Their measure of faith never increased; however, the source that they drew from never ceased to provide and even extended beyond them.
This reminds me of Jesus feeding the five-thousand (Matt. 14:19). It doesn’t matter the measure of faith we possess. What matters is where we place that measure of Faith. Then it can be used to provide, sustain, deliver, and bless not just ourselves but all of those that God has put into our hands.
Next time you find yourself saying, “I wish I had that kind of faith, stop yourself and instead seek to place your trust in the one who can do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think.
Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.

- One needed to supply for hard times, a famine. (1 Kings 17)
- The other is a need to break the bondage about to grab hold of her children (2 Kings 4)
