The Pruning Process

Judges 7:6 KJV
And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

In the book of Judges, God takes Gideon’s army from 22,000 to 10,000 to 300. Now to the logical mind this makes no sense. You would always want more fighting men not less when you go to war, but with God, less is more!

God often takes us through a pruning process before he can give us the victory. He pruned Gideon’s army and he will prune us. He takes away the aspects of our lives that keep us from Him. It’s not to harm us but to protect us.

The pruning process is what helps us grow. The dead weight, like the fearful soldiers (Judges 7:3), must be cut away. What’s your dead weight?
