Shining the Light

Shining the Light

Matthew 5:14-15 KJV
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Many a Sunday morning, the kids sing “This Little Light of Mine.” The song, based partially on the verses above, implies they have a little light because the kids are little, but sometimes our light as adult Christians is small too.

Just as 4th of July fireworks come in different sizes: sparkles, single fireworks, groups of fireworks, and the grand finale; the amount of light we shine for Christ can change in size based on who we’re around and what we’re doing.

It is our job to let our light shine and even if the situation we’re in reduces our light to just a sparkler size, we have to let it shine! We can’t let Satan blow it out, we can’t hide it, we have to shine it everywhere we go! Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!
