Faithfulness in Action

Psalm 61:5 KJV
For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.

The word fear in this verse denotes reverence - not being scared of something. David says he was given a heritage of people who fear the Lord. This means his parents and grandparents spent time speaking of their faith in the Lord and practicing it in front of David.

The faith of those who came before him left an impact on David. He knew in times of trouble who to call on for help because he had seen it done by his loved ones before him.

We need to do the same for our children. If they see us pray when things get tough, they’ll know to do the same. If they see us search the scripture for an answer to a question, they’ll know to do the same. If they see us give God proper reverence, they’ll know to do the same.

If we are faithful to live out our faith in front of our kids, it might just give them a faith like David - and that sounds pretty good to me!
